Description
Join Queer Christian rock artist Semler for an intimate show and Q&A session. Register and support local LGBTQ+ nonprofits! For LGBTQ+ folk and allies who are seekers, have been abandoned or hurt by the church, are spiritual-but-non-religious, deconstructing, Christian, or somewhere in between: this is a show you won't want to miss. Grace "Semler" Baldridge (all pronouns) has been featured on NPR, The Washington Post, and Apple Radio. With song titles like "Jesus from Texas" and "Hallelujah (In Your Arms)" that Baldridge calls "an anthem of queer joy," they explore faith through an LGBTQ+ lens, offering critique to mainstream western Christianity and authenticity about their lived experience as a queer person seeking God. Pre-Registration & DonationCultivating safe, sacred space means the organizers need to know how many people to expect, so pre-registration is required. Concertgoers are encouraged to make a give-as-you-can donation to local LGBTQ+ partner organizations. You can donate $1, $10, or $100—totally up to you. 100% of proceeds from donations will go to: LGBT Community Center of Greater ClevelandCentral Outreach Wellness Center (Cleveland Heights)Colors+ Youth CenterVenue & Parking InformationDoors open at 6:30 p.m. Show begins at 7:00 p.m. Standing room and limited seating will be available. About the Artist Semler made headlines in 2021 by topping Apple Music Christian charts and Spotify's Top Christian Artists playlists. They were the first openly queer artist to hit Number 1 on the iTunes Christian music charts. Their impact on the industry led to the announcement they will open for Relient K on their 2022 "Um, Yeah" tour. In a genre that has historically shunned musicians for coming out or supporting LGBTQ+ rights, Semler is among a group of Christian LGBTQ+ artists carving out space that embraces their full identity, including their faith.
