Description

Join us for a day of "sound and silence" on Saturday, March 26, with Ruth Cunningham of Anonymous 4. Bookended by the daily office, chanted and sung from the Book of Common Prayer, our day will comprise a range of contemplative practices. We will shift from vocal practices for the whole group to resonant quiet in centering prayer, from mindful movement to prayers of rest accompanied by harp and voice. We will also share a silent lunch period, with plenty of time for journaling, art practice, or just plain dozing. All formal practices will be gently instructed or guided, so whether you are practiced or new to contemplative prayer forms, you are most welcome. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Ruth Cunningham, a classically trained musician, a sound healing practitioner, and a founding member of Anonymous 4, and the program will be directed by Dr. Donald McCown, Director of the Center for Contemplative Studies at West Chester University.
