ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a chronic nuisance, a mysterious delivery driver, catalytic converter thefts, a stolen watch at the library and curfew violations. Here is information from the reports: Chronic nuisance A chronic nuisance warning was issued to a household in the 700 block of North Geneva Avenue. Mysterious driver A resident in the 700 block of North Kenilworth Avenue told police that a delivery driver stopped at her house but did not deliver a package. The incident, which took place about 6 p.m. Thursday, was recorded by a surveillance camera. An investigation is pending. The case was labeled theft. Converter thefts A catalytic converter was stolen between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. Thursday from a white 2017 Isuzu at Medspeed, 140 W. Industrial. An officer tried to stop a black Infiniti that was suspected to be used in the theft of catalytic converters. The driver sped away, but the car was later found unoccupied in a nearby ditch. A gun was found. An investigation is pending. The incident happened about 4 a.m. Sunday at York and Roosevelt. Watch theft A person told police that someone stole her Apple Series 6 Watch from her backpack while it was left unattended between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Elmhurst Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave. Curfew violations Two youths were found to be in violation of the city's curfew during a traffic stop about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Vallette and Hillside. They were cited and released to their parents.
