Press release from the Oconee County Government: une 17, 2020 A groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, June 15, marked the official start of construction on the Oconee County Animal Shelter renovation and expansion. The project will include renovation of the existing building, expansion of the front lobby, and the addition of a multi-purpose room. A new dog quarantine kennel, new cat quarantine kennel, and lab will also be constructed. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of the calendar year. "We are pleased to begin work on this project, which will ensure that Oconee County has an up-to-date facility that will meet the needs of our community both now and in the coming years," said Board of Commissioners Chairman John Daniell.
