Convicted Felon Accused In Concord Road Rage Incident

CONCORD, CA — A convicted felon is accused of waving a gun at a truck driver Monday morning in Concord while yelling that people "get shot for driving like that," police said. The suspected road-rage incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. when the truck driver stopped at a red light. The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe towing another vehicle pulled up beside the truck driver and began yelling obscenities at the truck driver for stopping at the red light, Concord police said. The Tahoe driver then produced a black semi-automatic handgun and yelled at the truck driver that people "get shot for driving like that" while waving the gun around in the air, police said. The truck driver called police and provided a description of the Tahoe, which officers found in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center. When officers got to the parking lot, the suspect drove off and did not yield when officers tried to stop him. The driver continued onto Oak Grove Road where he eventually stopped, police said. Once officers detained the driver, they determined was a convicted felon. A black handgun was found behind the back seat of the Tahoe; officers also found a .38-caliber revolver in the bed of the Chevrolet Tahoe, according to police. After the truck driver positively identified the suspect, he was arrested and booked into the Martinez jail. Police did not reveal the suspect's name.
