SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Sandy Springs City Councill is setting aside $150,000 to partner with area nonprofits as part of a pilot Nonprofit Recreational Grant program to expand recreational offerings to underserved communities. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the council selected five organizations from a number of proposals received in December to manage the new recreation opportunities. The Healthy Youth USA Foundation, Sandy Springs Charter Middle School PTO Foundation, Northside Youth Organization, Los Ninos Primero, and Horizons Atlanta were the recipients of the grant funding, according to reports. Four of the organizations will receive $30,000 each and Sandy Springs Charter Middle School PTO will receive $1,500, making the grant total $121,500. The council approved the $121,0500 in grant funding and will work to find ways to utilize the remaining $28,500 in funds that fit within the goals of the NRG program. Read the full story at AJC.com.
