DETROIT — An 18-year-old Detroit man was accused of trying to strike officers with a stolen car after police tried stopping the car, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced. Zachery Ryan Davis, 18, was charged with one count of assault with intent to murder and one count of third-degree fleeing and eluding, prosecutors said. Davis was arranged on Sunday and given a $1 million bond. His probable cause conference is scheduled for Feb. 22, prosecutors said. Officers said they were in the area of Chalfonte Street and Ardmore Street in Detroit on Feb. 8 looking for a stolen car. Officers said they found the car in the area at 7:11 p.m. and tried to stop the stop. However, the car fled police before stopping at the intersection of Chalfonte Street and Mark Twain Street, to which officers got out of their car to approach Davis in the stolen car, prosecutors said. That's when officers said Davis turned around the car and drove toward them, striking their armored vehicle. As officers reentered their scout car, Davis struck the car again, and that's when officers opened fire, striking Davis, prosecutors said. Davis' car slowly came to a stop between Mark Twain Street and Strathmoor Street, and that's when officers placed him under arrest and took him to a nearby hospital, prosecutors said.
