Description

Great opportunity for lady to assist candidate in political campaign. Longshot aspirant but with vibrant message of truth/responsibility without prejudice. Not much money involved but willing to adhere to your schedule with no pressure. Candidate is one of a kind. Unique, qualified and stable long time local resident. I just need 3000 votes in my district to send message of truth to the important and powerful people who run our city. Will you be kind enough to help me? Ranked Choice Voting and Breaking the Backs of Private Clubs There is no question that in politics, perception is reality and only a few rare voters decern the truth. Why would someone run for public office knowing that they had a snowballs chance in hell of winning? That is the $64,000 question I ask myself as I ponder another crushing defeat. As Ringo Starr said, “It don’t come easy.” I’ve discovered the formula for success however and it’s a sad picture rife with political prostitutes, Johns and plenty of dough. The San Diego City Council reminds me of the Chicken Ranch in Nevada. The voters unwittingly play the Johns in a high stake's game of poker. The media groups a candidate's success on three factors being money, money and more money. So, if one is deemed a serious contender for our local City Council, you better have at minimum $200,000 tucked away to impress local leaders and of course all the Johns. This is a sick appraisal of who we are in this so-called America’s Finest City. Most folks voting will lament on all the money in politics. They are the world’s biggest hypocrites. They will mostly vote for the candidate with the most money. It doesn’t matter the qualifications, character and vision of a candidate. All that is important is perception of winning led in part by our two-party system. Then recalls begin and these hypocritical voters cry foul. Oh my! In 2018, I attended up to ten public meetings a week, shook at least 120,000 hands, walked until I was blue in the face and was hospitalized at UCSD La Jolla as a gift for my efforts. I received a meager 843 votes of literally 100,000 cast. How does one explain this since at least 10,000 voters told me directly of their intent to go my way? Remember the Johns? Remember perception and money? Unwittingly, the voters are dragged into private voting clubs oblivious to unethical cronyism, gladhanding, nepotism and all sorts of political corruption. Of course, voters will deny all these horrible things in defending their flank. I may run again if only to never quit. Plus, Ranked Choice Voting where the top 5 candidates advance to the General Election and then are chosen by preference offers hope. Also, if there are five or less candidates total, than there is no Primary. I’ve been in my District for over 55 years, and I’ll bet nobody knows San Diego as well and I’ll bet few are as well qualified. My ballot statement in 2018 for San Diego City Council was evidence that I was correct on ALL the issues in 2021. Yes, except nobody cared enough, nobody took a gamble on a weird name. This is San Diego where it’s de rigueur to be politically correct. Despite my many years on the Clairemont Community Planning Group and the drafting of a letter to former Mayor Kevin Faulconer in support of preserving our cherished Mission Bay Golf Course, even local men of the links ignored my quest for a District 2 seat. How low can you go? The voters were duped into believing that the mega giant Air B and B could be stopped from renting short term in San Diego. Any human being with a modicum of intelligence ought to have known this was mere folly. I knew on the basis of common sense. I lost in a landslide for speaking rationally, logically and reasonably. "Don't blame me I voted for McGovern" 1972 McGovern Campaign for President The voters got their just deserts and rightfully so. Maybe God willing, I'll be on the ballot again in 2022. See you at the Poles! Sorry, I mean Polls, Daniel Smiechowski Bay Ho/Le Havre France A Very Sad Chapter of Personal Hurt in San Diego Politics My fellow citizens, this is Daniel Smiechowski a 56-year resident of Bay Ho and Western Hills in Clairemont. I speak to you in truth without prejudice. I am a candidate for District 2 of the San Diego City Council. Put away the notion of two sides to a story as this story is of a personal political wrong with no defense. The incumbent City Council Member in this District is Jen Campbell who coincidentally resides in Clairemont and is endorsed by the Clairemont Democratic Club. Despite my God fearing Family, and Polish Father who owned five homes in Clairemont over fifty years ago, my mother a local college professor and myself having attended local schools in good standing with a myriad of public service, the Clairemont Democratic Club refused to allow me into their meeting. This is undemocratic and as a candidate for public office in San Diego, I am both aghast and appalled at the absence of humanity, common sense and decency exercised by my political party of over 50 years. What happened to our common decency? I remain however undeterred at this social and political wrong and vow to never ever capitulate to an act contrary to the American ideal. I am sincerely, Daniel Smiechowski Candidate for San Diego City Council. A Message of Truth and Why I am Running for San Diego City Council My fellow San Diegans, the following depiction of how some voters view political candidates is without prejudice and likewise for how the candidates are elected into public office. Here within lie basic facts, basic truths and the quest for fundamental goodwill. On the subject of character attacks, political hypocrisy, pigeon holing and off beat, off subject insults hurled at candidates as a badge of honor, these types of responses are beneath us, they are illogical, unreasonable and quite frankly just absurd. No one knows the totality and intent of anyone running for office. It’s a slippery slope. For example, one can lament on the former President’s association with prostitutes and seek refuge in the opposing party except the opposing party is equally culpable. Gary Hart and Monkey Business, Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky were not enshrined in political sainthood. When voters become illogical and disparage candidates as having a home in France, wearing a Speedo or even running in athletic events as in my case, we have lost view of reality and the end game being the process of electing someone on political merit. There exist a small group of voters who will complain and hurl insults no matter who is in office. These folks are better suited as circus barkers or attendants in the nose bleed section of boxing events. Taking words out of context and twisting the truth to suit the illogical and unreasonable interpretation of mean-spirited voters is as old as sin. Society is the loser. The two-party system is increasingly becoming a colossal failure. When a few so-called elites and party insiders promote their candidate, the gullible public follows the charade hook line and sinker. Then those very same voters demand to recall the candidate they elected in the first place. The man or woman who tells the truth from the start is rarely elected. In fact, the best candidate is seldom chosen since the process is a shell game. Media types will say, Mr. Smiechowski has raised a minimum of money and therefore rank him as a non-contender. Political merit circulates around financial prostitution and most voters buy into this immorality. Perception is everything in politics. You wouldn’t bet on a crippled race horse. Ideas and vision plus work ethic are less important than one’s ability to raise money by way of rich and prominent donors. Yet, the voters complain. The voters are hypocrites. Why are Republican lobbyists and developers contributing to Democrats on the San Diego City Council? Do the voters really know or even care what is going on at City Hall. Are San Diego voters aware that a few years ago a certain protected class blocked a religious organization from moving into Mission Valley predicated on political diversions, contrary to City planners. Oh my! I’m running for San Diego City Council because we in District 2 are worse off than four years ago, worse off than eight years ago, worse off than 12 years ago and certainly worse off than 30 years ago. Our streets are a mess with potholes bigger than the Grand Canyon and look like the outskirts of Abidjan in the Ivory Coast. The homeless like a broken record are camped out along the new Blue Line Trolley as expected. Where was the planning? AWOL? Our parks are dilapidated. We can’t even fund our pool lifeguards. Seniors no longer have a meeting place in Clairemont and to add insult to injury cannot afford their water bills, The City Real Estate Department cannot be trusted under the cloud of the Ash Street fiasco. Mission Beach is under water during Winter storms. Why? Traffic in District 2 is not sustainable. The Climate Action Plan is pie in the sky. Buses in Clairemont are near empty yet local so-called leaders hail the success of riding public transportation. When will this idiocy end? The City ought to instead offer financial incentives to own an electric car. Our bike lanes are death traps waiting for another needless tragedy. Most of these devoted bike lanes go unused for days and even weeks. When will this idiocy end? Landscaping on City owned property looks like the Siberian Desert. Oh my! Someone is lining their pockets. And, what on earth is going on with COVID? Are we stuck with the Pandemic for another 5 years? Our Boards and Commissions are choke full of appointees chosen through political favors and more. Oh my! I’m Daniel Smiechowski candidate for District 2 San Diego City Council and I approve this message.
