DAVIDSON, NC — As Christmas approaches this week, families are tasked with modifying holiday plans to limit the chances of spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 illness. One thing that remains the same is the closure or modification of many services in Davidson and Mecklenburg County for the holiday. Some services may be closed for Christmas Eve (Thursday, Dec. 24) and Christmas Day (Friday, Dec. 25). Here are the openings and closings to know for both days. Here are the openings/closings to be aware of throughout Davidson and Mecklenburg County: Town of Davidson: Offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 23 through Friday, Dec. 25. Town of Davidson trash collection: normal pick-up schedule. U.S. Post Office: Closed, Friday, Dec. 25 State Offices: Closed Thursday, Dec. 24 through Monday, Dec. 28 Mecklenburg County Offices and Services: Closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 for the Christmas holiday. Offices and services will also be closed Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 for New Year's Day. Department of Social Services: Closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 for the Christmas holiday. Offices and services will also be closed Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 for New Year's Day. Mecklenburg County Tax Office: Closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 for the Christmas holiday. Offices and services will also be closed Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 for New Year's Day. Mecklenburg County Elections Office: Closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 for the Christmas holiday. Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds Office: Closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 for the Christmas holiday. Land Use and Environmental Services Agency: Closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 for the Christmas holiday. Mecklenburg County Health Department: Closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, as well as Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. Libraries: Closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, as well as Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. Solid Waste centers: Closed at noon on Thursday, Dec. 24. They will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25, Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020 and Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. All Recreation Centers, Senior Centers, Nature Centers and indoor Rental Facilities remain closed due to COVID-19. Parks, Nature Preserves and Greenways will remain open. CharMeck 311: Closed Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25, 2020 for the Christmas holiday and Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 for New Year's Day. Outside regular business hours, CharMeck 311 callers can report water, sewer, storm water and animal issues via an automated service that dispatches assistance.
