Learn about sustainable gardening at the SPRING INTO GARDENING educational course on Saturday, March 12th. Online registration and payment of $25 are due by March 3rd. Early registration is recommended as class sizes are limited. Doors open at 9 am, first session is at 9:30 am. Last session ends at 5:15 pm. Location is Phoenix School of Roseburg; 3131 NE Diamond Lake Blvd. Register at Masks are required.
The course begins with talk on using native plants to restore biodiversity in your yard. Topics include managing vertebrate pests, principles of xeriscaping, growing berry crops, gardening soils, growing and propagating succulents, principles of permaculture, growing peppers and tomatoes, managing your home orchard, growing and managing olive trees, and new vegetable varieties from Territorial Seed Company. A class on what to do with all your tomatoes will be taught by the OSU Master Food Preserver coordinator. Each participant in the succulent class will take home a plant. Each session is 75 minutes long.
