Description
The Mile High Community Band Concert Band is an adult (high school students welcome) community band of 40+ musicians (pre-pandemic numbers) that rehearses at Denver North High School and performs primarily in Jefferson County, Colorado. Our musicians are young and old, from intermediate to advanced avocational players, playing a wide variety of music—including symphonic and jazz pieces, show and pop medleys, and marches. We rehearse weekly and perform approximately 4 concerts throughout the year.
We are currently recruiting trombone players.
We are also looking for percussionists - must be able to read music - we are particularly looking for someone who can play a variety of percussion instruments - instruments provided, trumpet, baritone, oboe, French horn, bass clarinet, clarinet, flute, alto and tenor saxophone players. We are rebuilding after effects of the pandemic.
Rehearsals are weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:15 to 8:30 pm in the Instrumental Music Room at Denver North High School. Our next concert is planned for a date TBD on a Thursday in May 2022.
Our band board of directors highly recommends using bell covers, and wearing a mask when not playing your instrument. We are not requiring COVID 19 vaccination, but an anonymous survey of the group showed that 80% of band members are vaccinated.
You may check out the band for two rehearsals without paying dues. For the longer term, membership in the Band costs $35 per month ($25 per month for students). Don’t let cost stand in your way because scholarships are available. For the same cost, you may also play in our Intermediate Band, perhaps on a different instrument which meets from 6 pm to 7:10 pm on the same night and in the same location.
