Description
I have a 40 gallon tank with all accessories plus a 8 month old red ear, some guppies, a mystery snail, and a pearl gourami, plants (rehoming fee of $20) if you want the pets only you must have proper enclosures. The gourami needs at least 30 gallons and the slider will need to be upgraded to a bigger tank by next year. A full grown slider by itself needs at least a 90 gallon tank.
I also have a 20 gallon tank with a male betta, some guppies, some pest snails, cherry shrimps and various hybrid shrimps, kuhli loaches to assist the betta in controlling the snail and shrimp population (the loaches live in the sand and only emerge in the middle of the night when all the lights are off). This tank is equipped with an under gravel filter, light, heating unit, and lid but the lid is designed for a 30 gallon tank. There are also plants, rocks, and lots of moss and duckweed. Rehoming fee of $10. If you want the pets only then please show me your enclosure so I can be sure they go to a good home.
The 20 gallon serves as home to the betta while the guppies, shrimp, and snails serve as stimulation dietary supplementation for the betta fish. I also use the shrimps, snails, and duckweed from the 20 gallon as part of the turtles diet. It takes about two weeks for the duckweed to overgrow the smaller tank at which point I transfer 99% of it to the big tank. It takes about a week of grazing for the turtle tank to be completely void of duckweed. The snails are all gone overnight and sometimes a couple shrimps may evade the turtle long enough to reproduce but they almost always get eaten in a few days. The turtle will come with a jar of pellets but you will have to provide the D supplement.
