Description

It's social justice, but funny. IUPUI Diversity Speaker Series presents:Negin Farsad at IUPUITuesday, March 1, 2022 at 6 p.m. Doors 5:30 p.m. Madam Walker Legacy Center Ballroom Free and open to the public Formally educated from Ivy League schools in race relations, international public affairs, and theater, Negin Farsad translates that experience into her own brand of “social justice comedy.” Her routines often feature her satirical takes on politics, sex and her experiences navigating the cultural dynamics of her Iranian-born Muslim family. (Seriously, you have to check her out. She’s hilarious.) Huffington Post named Farsad one of the "53 of our Favorite Female Comedians,” and she was also selected as a TED Fellow. And her book How to Make White People Laugh is a humorous yet poignant memoir on growing up Muslim in the post-9/11 U.S. Join us in person Tuesday, March 1, at 6p.m. at the Madam Walker Legacy Center Ballroom. Brought to you by the IUPUI Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion IMPORTANT EVENT ANNOUNCEMENTSIndiana Avenue is under construction due to the Cultural Trail expansion. It shouldn't cause too many headaches, just know that the street is now down to one lane each way and we may have to redirect foot traffic if the sidewalk is still under construction. Free parking available in the lots west of the Walker Theater, marked in the map below as lots A - D. Accessible parking available in lot A. Enter the building using the door at 617 Indiana Ave. It's the one with the Walker Building overhang and 617 above it, facing Indiana Ave. This is NOT the main marquee entrance with the ticket booth. Take the elevator to BR, once you're inside the 617 door. That BR stands for ballroom, which is where we'll be. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION Masks are required. Do everyone a favor and wear your mask over your mouth and nose. Arrive early. Your BFF's coat can only save so many seats. Limited general-admission seating available. First come first served. No reserve seating. If you have a disability, no worries — we got you. The Walker Ballroom has accessible entries, seating and restrooms.
