Learn to get away from it all by preparing for day-trips or weeklong expeditions. Learn to get away from it all by preparing for day-trips or weeklong expeditions, then start exploring your own special paradise on foot. Class covers essential equipment, hiking safety, and all questions raised by participants, plus you’ll learn about some great places to hike using your new-found knowledge. Who is Invited: Open to ages 12 and older; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please. When & Where to Meet: Arrive no later than 1:15PM.  Meet in the Exhibit Gallery by the main Visitor Center. The clinic starts promptly at 1:30PM. What to Wear & Bring: Class is held in an open-air building so please dress for the weather; bring water (1 liter per person), and a snack if you like. Requirements: Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Registration, Fees & Cancellation: Registration is required! Group size is limited. Registration opens the Saturday two weeks prior to the event and closes at noon the Thursday before the event. Sorry, no group reservations. Natural Area entry fees apply. This hike is subject to cancellation. Check trail conditions by going to the GCSNA twitter feed or the Government Canyon State Natural Area Facebook page. Friends of Government Canyon is made up of a growing group of active volunteers who take pride in the work we do — from grooming trails to facilitating education programs to advocating the protection of the Aquifer and numerous resources found within the boundaries of the Natural Area. We are hikers, naturalists, artists, mountain bikers, runners, researchers, clean water advocates and in general, lovers of the outdoors with one common mission; protecting and preserving the Natural Area.
