ChessPalace is hosting a Scholastic chess tournament. Open to chess players in grades K - 12th grade only ChessPalace is hosting a Scholastic chess tournament at SteelCraft. Space is limited to first 30 players. Open to students in Kindergarten to 12th grade only. US Chess Federation membership is required. Details on this outdoor chess tournament: Sections (subject to change depending on the number of players) K-12th grade Open rating 1200 and above(3 rounds)K-12th grade rated Under 1200 (4 rounds)K-6th grade rated under 600 (4 rounds)K-6th grade U400 (4 rounds)Check-in starts at 9 AM and Round 1 starts at 9:30 AM with awards estimated at around 4:30 pm. Time control: Game 45 minutes in K-12th Open section, and Game 30 minutes in all other sections. Awards: Trophies to first place winner in each section and medals to second and third place. Entry Fee: $35  and must be registered by March 5 so we can provide a count to the venue. There will be no onsite registration. ***SteelCraft has a strict no outside food and drinks policy except for water bottles. Please purchase food and beverages from the food vendors.*** Hand sanitizers will be provided at each board. ChessPalace is a chess club in the Orange County, California area. We are located at 5246 Lampson Ave. Garden Grove, CA near where the 405 freeway and the 22 freeway intersect. We host chess tournaments, offer classes and lessons, and sell chess books and merchandise.
