Modown Barber Exhibit is an annual trade show with a haircutting competition, training seminars, vendors and exhibitors. Welcome- Join us for the 9th season of Modown Barber Exhibit in Pasadena, California. November 7th 2022 2pm-8pm Who are we? Modown is presented by Barber Society a grass roots organization founded + directed by barbers for barbers to provide education, resources and representation for tradespeople in the barbering profession. What is Modown? Once a year we meet for a fun filled day of information, education and haircutting competition. Who should attend? Students and professionals in the barber and beauty industry who want to learn more about the trade and business of barbering. What to expect? Education workshops, seminars, Keynote speaker, discussions panels, exhibitors, vendors, haircutting competition, giveaways. Will there be exhibitors/vendors? There will be 50+ Vendors providing the best products and services. Is it open to the public? We do allow for guest who are not students or professionals to attend modown. What are the categories for the competition? Student Creative: 45 minutes time limit Choose a theme and create any haircut and style you want. This category includes wardrobe and will be judged as a full look. Designs, enhancements, extensions, units and colors are permitted. Fast Fade: 15 Minute time limit Any variation of a skin fade + style with a minimum of #2 clipper guard on top (longer length welcomed). The Classic: 30 minutes Traditional barbershop haircut + style + wardrobe. Pompadour, contours, flattop, quiff, slick back. (No enhancements) Pro Creative: 30 minutes Choose a theme and create any haircut and style you want. This category includes wardrobe and will be judged as a full look. Designs, enhancements, extensions, units and colors are permitted. Tag team creative: 45 minutes Choose a theme and create any haircut and style you want. This category includes wardrobe and will be judged as a full look. Designs, enhancements, extensions, units and colors are permitted. How will it be judged? Haircut- 1-10 /Styling 1-10/ Finish1-10/ Creativity 1-10/ Difficulty 1-10 (judge can only submit 1 perfect score). How many competitors? 20 competitors per category What does the competitor registration include? 1 day admission for competitor + model to tradeshow, workshops, competition and parties. What does the winner get? $1,000 cash prize, trophy, medal, gift bag. Do I need a barber license? If your state and country of residence currently have a barber license you will have to provide a copy of your license before you compete. If you are a competitor from a country who is currently not regulated and does not require a license to perform barbering services you will not need to submit proof of licensing. Students must show proof of enrollment in a barber or cosmetology licensing/certification program.
