Take a tour of SLB's new 3,000 square foot programming space! SLB Radio Productions (SLB) uses radio and audio to amplify the voices of youth—and members of other communities whose stories are often marginalized—to educate, empower, and build community. SLB recently increased its programming space from 500 to 3,000 square feet by opening a Youth Media Center adjacent to its existing studios. The Center includes two flexible 24-student classrooms, an informal gathering space, three new recording studios, and six editing stations with tools for audio, video and music creation. During this open house on Thursday, May 19th from 3pm - 6pm, you can tour the new space, talk to youth participants and SLB staff members. SLB Radio Productions, Inc. (SLB) uses radio and audio to encourage, amplify, share and archive the ideas, stories, and feelings of children, youth and families. We believe in radio and audio because these technologies enable a sense of intimacy, engagement and self-directed imagination that is often lacking in other media, while also promoting opportunities for privacy (given that children need not be photographed), equal access (audio has fewer barriers for participation than other media), and sharpening of important life skills (i.e., speaking and listening, imagination, creative expression, and critical thinking, respect for others, confidence and cooperation, and technical curiosity).
