PEABODY, MA — Family and friends of a Peabody couple who suffered severe injuries and "lost everything" in a house fire on Ellsworth Road last week started a GoFundMe page to help the victims. The two adult children of Eddie and Sueanne Brooks, who the sons said lived in Peabody for 25 years, are "reaching out to the community for help and prayers in our family's time of need." As of Monday morning, the GoFundMe page had raised $5,360 of a $10,000 goal. Peabody fire officials said the fire that broke out at about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday left the house destroyed and the male victim suffering from "severe burns" when he was found unconscious outside. According to the GoFundMe page, "everything was lost" in the blaze that caused Eddie Brooks third-degree burns "over the majority of his body." He was rushed to Brigham and Women's Hospital in critical condition. The sons said Sueanne was recovering in the hospital late last week but was dealing with "emotional stress with the loss of her home and all her belongings, memories and her husband's status." "We are going to have to help rebuild the lives of two wonderful grandparents," the GoFundMe post said. "They are the grandparents of three young girls and one boy who love them dearly. "We are appreciative of any kind of help, donations, clothing, everything was lost. The goal of this is to help them get back to their normal lives as quickly as they can, with the least amount of added stress." GoFundMe is a Patch partner.
