CHARLOTTE, NC — At least 54 schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School district have reported cases of COVID-19 in the last 14 days, the school district announced Monday. At least 18 of the nearly 41,700 CMS students currently receiving in-person instruction, and 30 of the district's 19,100 employees tested positive during the week of Nov. 7, CMS reported in its weekly dashboard. Five CMS schools have had 15 or more people in quarantine in the two-week period, according to the district's dashboard. "Why is that important? Because if cases start to connect as a result of a school situation, that would indicate that the virus is spreading within the school," she said.
