STAMFORD, CT — A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with a string of home and attempted car burglaries on Stamford's West Side, according to the Stamford Police Department. The teen, described as a "local resident" by police, was charged with three counts of first-degree burglary, third-degree robbery, fourth, fifth and sixth-degree larceny, and second and third-degree criminal attempt at larceny. The teen was remanded to the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center, police said. Around 3 a.m. on Feb. 13, police received a call that people were struggling with a person who had just entered their home in the area of Liberty Street, Sgt. Sean Scanlan of the SPD said. Units arrived and were given a description of a Black male in his late teens to early 20s. A person matching that description, later identified as the 17-year-0ld, was found near Liberty Street, and detained, Scanlan said. "On his person were keys to numerous cars, a check book and other miscellaneous items," Scanlan said. "Officers were able to then back track to calls that were now coming in and tie the 17-year-old to a total of three home burglaries on the West Side of Stamford, as well as attempted car burglaries." Scanlan said Stamford investigators are looking into other burglaries that have occurred in the city over the last six to eight weeks.
