Trump Postpones Fayetteville Rally Until Monday, Blames High Wind

NORTH CAROLINA — Hours before taking the stage, President Donald Trump abruptly postponed a campaign rally set for Thursday evening in Fayetteville, citing a wind advisory. The trip would have been his third trip to the state in a bid to energize support in the span of eight days. Trump's rally, which was to be held at the Fayetteville Regional Airport, located at 400 Airport Road in Fayetteville, will now be held early next week, his campaign said. "Because of a wind advisory issued with gusts reaching 50 miles per hour and other weather conditions, the outdoor Fayetteville, NC rally has been postponed until Monday," the campaign said. Trump's travel to the state highlights just how important his campaign views the Tar Heel state, and its 15 electoral votes. On Oct. 21, Trump flouted the state's coronavirus executive order and held a shoulder-to-shoulder rally in Gastonia drawing a crowd of at least 23,000. Saturday, he held a similar event in Lumberton. Trump downplayed coronavirus in his speech at the event in Robeson County, where the spread of COVID-19 has led to a 12.2 percent-positive rate — the second highest in the state.
