MASSACHUSETTS, MA — The Massachusetts State House is set to reopen to the public after nearly two years. In a statement Monday, Senate President Karen Spilka and House Speaker Ron Mariano said the building will reopen Feb. 22, with health and safety measures in place. Masks will be required inside the building, and visitors will need to present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test from no more than a day prior. Lawmakers have faced criticism for keeping the building closed to the public after the rest of the state reopened. A group of about 10 protesters pushed past security and entered the building last week, demanding its reopening. The State House has been closed for more than 700 days.
