ANNAPOLIS, MD — Police said two juveniles were shot and hospitalized Saturday in Annapolis. Officers announced Sunday that they arrested the suspect after he turned himself in without incident.
Authorities said the victims were a 14-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl. The male is in stable condition, and the female is in serious but stable condition.
Police identified the arrestee as 41-year-old John Estep of Annapolis. Officers said he faces seven charges related to the crime, including two counts of first-degree assault. A judge released him on personal recognizance until his trial.
Authorities were called to the 100 block of Obery Court at 7:19 p.m. for a potential home invasion. Police got multiple calls soon after reporting that the two kids were shot. Officers said they found the wounded children around 7:39 p.m. in the nearby unit block of Monument Street.
Detectives are still investigating the exact circumstances of the shooting. Authorities think this was an isolated incident and that there is no further threat to the public.
