The three-day convention will be held May 13 to 15 at the Hilton Garden Inn International Blvd with panels, a short film festival, musical guests, a costume contest, and numerous workshops. The fourteen new bicycles were acquired through the joint support of the Atlanta-Carolinas High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program and the city's Law Enforcement Neighborhood Support Foundation. According to department officials, the bicycles will help Charleston officers access the communities they serve and build relationships within them. (Live 5 News WCSC)According to new data released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, murders within Charleston have seen a 100 percent increase when compared to 2019 numbers. The new murder rate is part of the national trend that sees 2021 as the highest murder rate in the last 25 years. The Charleston Police Department says that the murder rate increase is likely tied to a lack of gun safety within the area.
