Here are the top five stories in Woonsocket today: Father Boris Kroner is a priest at St. Michael's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Woonsocket. With Russia surrounding Ukraine on three sides, he believes that locals "are prepared to defend their country and freedom." Sunday, he prayed for "a peaceful victory that will ensure that no lives are lost." (WJAR)If you eat fresh enoki mushrooms, check your fridge. We learned Thursday that Concord Farms is recalling "its 5.25 ounce (150 grams) enoki mushrooms, Lot #045633 grown in Korea." The product was distributed from California across the country. Look for the UPC barcode 001958939091 on the "bright blue and transparent plastic packaging. Jan Fruits Inc. is recalling its enoki mushrooms labeled "Taiwan Best Quality Enoki Natural Mushroom***Manufacturer: Changhua County Mushrooms Production Cooperative."(FDA, 2) Firm Foundation Christian Church at 84 Cumberland St. is hosting a free luncheon after service Sunday. Service starts at 10 a.m., and everyone's invited to participate in Christian worship. (The Valley Breeze) A 27-year-old incarcerated (accused) sex offender allegedly tried to "hire a hitman from jail." The target was his 12-year-old victim. The supposed payment for the child's death were to be "$200 in cash, along with $1,500 worth of tattoo equipment." However, he was talking to an undercover officer and not a hitman, which means he's now looking at additional charges. (Newsbreak) The RI National Guard announced Friday that there would be no air show this year. Initially, the festivities were supposed to take place June 25 and 26. However, "due to operational challenges," RI, which hasn't had an air show since 2018, will have to wait another year. Maybe.
