Here are the top five stories today in Sacramento: Someone threw rocks through several windows at the Capitol building Thursday, according to CHP Capitol Protection police. Around 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 12, an individual later identified as Eric Spies approached the California State Capitol near the north side of the building, CHP said. Highway patrol officers responded to the crime and detained Spies, who was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Sacramento County jail for felony vandalism, CHP said. (KCRA3)A suspicious package prompted a law enforcement response in Downtown Sacramento on Monday morning. California Highway Patrol says they got a report of a suspicious package near the Treasury Building at 10th and L streets. The package was described as being a cardboard box attached to the side of the building. It was removed without incident. The investigation is still ongoing. (CBS Sacramento) Finance Buzz has put together metrics to answer the question of which of America's cities are the best for finding lasting love. The results were based on eight metrics, beginning with the percentage of married people, the duration of their marriages, and the percentage of divorced people as well as the percentage of unmarried couples living together, the number of same-sex couples per thousand households, and the number of romantic restaurants, adult stores and wedding venues per person. San Francisco was the highest-scoring California city, coming in at number 10 on the national list. Sacramento just narrowly made the top 25, landing the 23rd spot. (FOX40) A father and son in Sacramento County were attacked by someone with a paintball gun while they waited for a bus near Watt and El Camino avenues Friday afternoon. "A car just sped past us and started shooting us," 11-year-old Riley Scharlow recalled. According to Riley's father, the two people who fired the paintball gun wore ski masks and he believes it will be difficult to tie anyone to the crime. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is aware of the incident. (FOX40) During the regular meeting Tuesday, the Folsom City council heard the Quarterly Financial Report for the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2021-22. They heard that Folsom unemployment and home sales are down, while the median Folsom home price went up last year, according to city officials. While unemployment was 5.0 and 4.8% in California and Sacramento County, Folsom's unemployment rate was 2.8%, officials said. The average median sales price through the second quarter of FY 2021-22 was $730,000, an increase of 19.45% over 2020-21. This highly anticipated Sacramento tradition drew in an audience of more than 3 million viewers and over 1,000 bidders from around the world last year. Artists whose works are selected will be included in a special exhibition at the Crocker which will be on view from May 26 until June 4. It will feature a silent auction open to a global audience as well as an in-person live auction event. Artists' work will also be featured in an Art Auction catalog that is set to be distributed to more than 10,000 households.
