Body Recovered Near Overturned Boat In Port Of LA

LOS ANGELES, CA — A body was found near an overturned 10-foot skiff near the Port of Los Angeles Sunday afternoon, officials reported. Crews recovered the body, which was found floating in the water at 1:43 p.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. A dive team searched the area but found no other victims, Humphrey said. The age and gender of the victim was not released on Sunday. The person's identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Los Angeles Port Police will handling the death investigation, Humphrey said.
