JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old Joliet man was booked into the Will County Jail on Friday after Joliet police say Quin Howe was driving at excessive speeds when he crashed into a semi truck along South Larkin Avenue near Interstate 80. Police say Howe sped away from the crash, and began tossing several containers of alcohol to the side of the road. Joliet officers arrested Howe near the intersection of McDonough Street and South Larkin Avenue. He was brought to the Will County Jail and booked into custody on charges of aggravated DUI, DUI, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and numerous traffic citations. Friday's wreck happened around 8:45 a.m. Howe's collision caused the truck to jump the center median and enter the southbound lanes, striking another semi-truck, according to police reports. "Immediately following the collision, Howe fled from his vehicle and was observed discarding alcohol containers from his vehicle onto the side of the road," police spokesman Dwayne English stated. "Officers located Howe near South Larkin Avenue and McDonough Street." Howe was taken into custody after refusing to submit to field sobriety tests and showing signs of being impaired by alcohol, police said. The driver of the first vehicle struck by Howe was taken to St. Joe's hospital by the Joliet Fire Department with minor injuries, police reports show. Howe lives in the apartment units in the 300 block of North Ottawa Street, according to his jail logs. He remained in custody Monday, unable to post 10 percent of his $15,000 bail.
