JOLIET, IL — A 54-year-old Joliet man is now in the Will County Jail facing felony DUI charges following Saturday morning's wreck at the busy intersection of Collins and Jackson Streets. Joliet police say Miguel A. Martinez was arrested on charges of aggravated DUI and driving while license suspended, both felonies.
Saturday's crash happened around 11:10 a.m. Martinez's vehicle collided with another vehicle at the intersection and "while speaking with officers, Martinez admitted to drinking alcohol and exhibited signs of alcohol impairment," Joliet police reports show.
Joliet police said Martinez submitted to field sobriety tests and was then taken into custody. Officers determined that Martinez held a suspended driver's license.
There were no injuries from the crash, police spokesman Dwayne English said.
Martinez, who lives in the 2100 block of South Tamarack Drive, remained in custody on Monday, unable to post 10 percent of his $5,000 bail, according to jail records.
