Description
BIRMINGHAM, AL — The shooting death of a Center Point teen Feb. 5 has been ruled a justifiable homicide. A parking lot attendant shot and killed 17-year-old Chico Guest during what police say was a robbery attempt.
The shooting occurred in a parking lot at 10th Avenue and 18th Street North.
"The victim of the robbery (shooter) was working as a parking lot attendant when the robbery occurred, and he shot the suspects," Sgt. Rod Mauldin said. "He has been cooperative in this investigation thus far."
A second suspect was also shot and was treated at UAB Hospital for non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. Detectives pursued charges against him under Alabama's Felony Murder Rule, which provides that when a person commits various crimes and "in the course of and in furtherance of the crime" another is killed, then the perpetrator is guilty of murder.
The second shooting victim, 19-year-old Kambran Tremaine Young, has been charged with murder. He is in custody at Jefferson County Jail on $150,000 bond.
