Description
Did you also know that it came from Marxism and one of its major offshoots in the twentieth century was Critical Theory. The common thread linking these theories, race, capitalism etc. to struggles to dismantle structures of oppression, exclusion and domination not as real occurrences but as tools to destroy and rebuild our way of life without the liberties and rights we enjoy today.
Parents have found in the teaching of CRT which schools deny they're teaching but want to defend their power to teach it that false conclusions are being made such as the US was founded on slavery and slavery was the foundation of our economic growth, this is a distortion of what happened because the whole of the US economy never relied on slavery or making people of color less than human. Like most western countries at that time, Asian and Middle Eastern as well slavery was commonly accepted. The vast majority of slaves coming to the US came from West Africa and were captured and sold by their fellow African & Arab tribes. This fact is rarely mentioned or even taught as CRT jumps history of the time to place all the blame on Southern Plantation owners who were White. Our founders to break away from the king of England had to initially accept slave states to make their union possible. Even the northern colonies which may or may not have high opinions of African slaves as they didn't of indentured servants from Europe didn't feel slavery was a just condition to inflict on anyone for their lifetime.
I hope you'll do some research and discover for yourself as I have that CRT is taught to create further wedges in society pitting innocent vs innocent in order to tear down the foundations of the US which has been a shinning light to tens of millions who've immigrated here for centuries to our freedoms not our sins.
Yes I did know what was said. We should teach all these things about the history of the United States.
Many organizations don't want to teach these things in class. They sometimes call it CRT.
