NORCROSS, GA - Criminal charges have been filed against the driver of a tractor-trailer that overturned in the parking lot of a Norcross area QuikTrip Thursday, damaging 10 cars and closing the road, according to reports. The Georgia State Patrol said Andrel Treamine Meadows, 42 of Byron, was charged with driving too fast for conditions, following too close, unsecure load and false log at time of inspection, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. GSP said Meadows' log showed he was off duty at the time of accident. The accident prompted the closure of all lanes of Jimmy Carter, according to reports. The truck drove off the road and over a retaining wall before smashing into the cars and overturning in the gas station parking lot. One person had to be rescued from a car, WSB-TV reports. That person was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The truck initially hit a vehicle in front of it on Jimmy Carter Boulevard, Gwinnett fire spokesman Donald Strother told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Crews responded to the scene at 7:10 a.m. The truck, which was hauling rolls of paper weighing about 5,5000 pounds each, was right-sided just before 11:30 a.m. Georgia State Patrol said the tractor-trailer was traveling west on Jimmy Carter Boulevard, approaching the intersection with Brook Hollow Parkway. Traffic was stopped on Jimmy Carter for a traffic signal, a GSP spokesperson said.
