Austin Akins (Ay-kenz); 34yo drummer, I've been in Texas for about a year now and there's an itch that needs scratched. It's time to start networking with local musicians and building a project. I also sing harmonies and play. The influences I have are within quite a range starting with anything 60s & 70s, funk, soul, blues, rock, jam, psychedelic, jazz and much more. Clyde Stubblefield, JoJo Mayer, Steve Gadd, Benny Greb, John Bonham, Sugarfoot Moffett, Jabo Sparks, Zorro the Drummer, Levon Helm, Nate Smith, Nathaniel Townsley and the list of drumming influences goes on... It's my goal to find a group of players that can get together once a week. Right now my schedule works with Saturday as I travel for work during the week. It would be refreshing to seek out some comfortable yet exciting chemistry to intentionally be formed with groovy individuals. Hit me up and we'll see what goes from there. I'm willing to travel for a weekly get together however, I do have a small extra room that may be transformed into a practice space. I play on a personally customized Pearl Vision series (Birch/Maple) with a 13in snare and flexible setup (2 to 6 pieces: I prefer a 4 piece jazz setup typically but it depends upon production).
