Be honest with us? Are you in a nursing facility, and sit on pads to absorb incontinence, and spend your day in front of a television? Because you, my friend don't have a clue.
When I turned of age, people hated those of us who were male, and had long hair. In fact, in some areas of the country, people were beaten to death by bands of yahoos who called them "commies" and "queers." If you wore an American flag, even as a pocket on your jeans, you were imprisoned with a felony conviction. If you dodged the draft (i.e. Donald Trump, Ted Nugent) you were considered an unpatriotic commie. Our music was loud, in your face anti police, anti-war, anti-establishment, anti-ANYTHING older than 30. Some songs glamorized suicide, infidelity, beating women. Old folk truly believed we were "living in end days."
The blacks had it even worse. In some areas of the south, it was sport for young groups of white males to lynch blacks, then drag them by the ankles on the back of their pickups, just because they made the mistake of walking alone, on lonely roads at night. They would go to war with us, fight valiantly side by side, saving our asses, and as soon as their feet hit American soil, could no longer go to our restaurants, movie theaters or work in our jobs, enroll in our schools. The police routinely beat them, at times murdered them, and certainly locked up good, honest, innocent people for life. (Little has changed in that arena.)
I'm glad life is good for you. For many minorities, life is abysmal, and they see Rome burning, as you fiddle. Shame!
