After a move across the country, landing in Portland, OR, and starting a blue-eyed r&b band called Prolly Knot, Sam has finally come full circle and is excited to release new music of her own. During quarantine, she committed to her writing and finished over 60 songs. She's chosen her favorites to record and is thrilled to celebrate the release at the Doug Fir this February. These new songs blend the catchy pop hooks you'll hear in Prolly Knot with the depth and clever writing in her solo records. Sam listens to anything — top 40 pop, TikTok hits, old country, r&b, folk, and instrumental music. She draws her inspiration from writers like Kacey Musgraves, Leon Bridges, Brittany Howard, and Ryan Tedder. Her big dream is to write for other artists full time, but in the meantime, she wants to share these songs and dance all night with you. NOSILA Alison Segura, musically known as Nosila, started making music with a classical singing degree in one hand and a guitar in the other. For many years she followed the folk singer/songwriter trajectory but didn’t truly find her voice until moving to Portland Oregon in 2017. Creating what she calls “sad girl electropop,” Nosila released her first EP in 2019 drawing inspiration from artists like Dirty Projectors, The Japanese House, Billie Eilish, James Blake, Lorde, and Sylvan Esso. Nosila's sound is shaped by ear-worm melodies, filtered vocal layers, minimalistic beats, and sounds borrowed from r&b, indie, and 80s and 90s pop. Her sound helps tell stories about abuse, addiction, betrayal, justice, connection, healing, and of all things, joy! SHY HONEYShy Honey is an up and coming electro pop band out of Portland, OR formed in 2019 by lead singer and local Portland singer-songwriter, Anna Gilbert. Shy Honey’s music features epic, reverberant guitars and moody keys with a “prom night” desperation. The music is upbeat, dark and dance worthy with a subtle nod to the sounds that defined music of the 80s and 90s. Gilbert’s honey-dripped vocals float over synthy pop keys and catchy guitar riffs. Both modern and retro, catchy and experimental, Shy Honey is putting a spin on electro pop in a fresh way, garnering the attention of their hometown music community. The band played their debut show to a sold-out Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, OR. Two days later, they were asked to open for a People’s Choice Award nominated podcast, “Off the Vine” hosted by Kaitlyn Bristowe (former Bachelorette) at a sold out Aladdin Theater. Shy Honey’s first two singles, “Reckless” and “Runaway” can be heard on local Portland radio stations as well as curated Spotify playlists. Shy Honey music is recorded in the artist’s hometown of Portland, OR. Doug Fir Lounge is an intimate Music Venue located underground below the full service Doug Fir Restaurant and Bar. We are just a few blocks east of the Burnside Bridge on the corner of 9th and East Burnside in Portland, Oregon.
