Join Flourish OKC for our 2022 Faith and Restorative Justice Forum. Join Flourish OKC for our 2022 Faith and Restorative Justice Forum. As people of faith, what is our role in God's unfolding restorative justice on the planet? How do we bring the reality of the Kingdom of Heaven to Planet Earth? What is the true meaning of God's 'Mispat' justice? Is it possible as people of God to create a justice system centered on redemption and healing? Join Flourish OKC as we explore the topic of faith and restorative justice with a welcome video from Bryan Stevenson of Equal Justice Initiative and the author of Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption. Bryan is an American lawyer, advocate, founder/executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative, and a law professor at New York University School of Law. Join us as well in person for Anthony Ray Hinton. Anthony Ray Hinton was 29 years old when he was wrongly convicted of the murder. Held on death row for nearly 30 years, he was finally exonerated and released in 2015. Anthony was one of the longest-serving death row prisoners in Alabama history and among the longest-serving condemned prisoners to be freed after presenting evidence of innocence. Mr. Hinton is the 152nd person exonerated from death row since 1983. Since his release, he has become a popular and powerful speaker, planning to devote the rest of his life to helping counter discrimination, bolster justice, and share his message of hope and forgiveness. He is the author of 'The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row.' The book was Oprah's book club selection of 2018. Desmond Tutu said, "An amazing and heartwarming story; it restores our faith in the inherent goodness of humanity." We will also have restorative justice experts, pastors, business leaders, advocates, and academics to speak on the most pressing social issue of our time - justice that restores. As people of faith; we are called to witness God's saving justice and to engage in embodied practices in broken places in our world to bring about hope, renewal, restoration, and wholeness. Come and join us in learning how to bend the moral arc of the universe towards justice so we can become architects of repair in the world. Lunch will be provided.
