BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Just in time for summer, tennis is back in Beverly Hills. At least, it will be for a two-week trial period to see if the regulations are followed. The city announced Thursday that the La Cienega Tennis Center and Roxbury Tennis Courts will reopen next Monday with limited use and reduced operating hours. The city's announcement comes after Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced June 1 that tennis courts could reopen, provided that players remain at least 6 feet away from each other, wear masks when they're not playing, and bring their own balls and sanitizing equipment, among other requirements. At La Cienega and Roxbury, which have been closed since March 16, players will need make reservations 24 hours in advance, and the city will begin accepting reservations Saturday. In keeping with LA County guidelines, only single-play games are allowed, and players are required to socially distance, bring their own equipment — including a glove on the non-racket hand — and wear face coverings when they are not playing. For reservations, go to beverlyhills.org/bhrec.
