Description

DRACUT, MA - Dracut Police Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department is asking for the public's assistance with identifying two men who allegedly forged a fraudulently obtained check and stole over $12,000 from a local business. Dracut Police were contacted in October by a business owner who reported that a business check he had mailed out to a vendor was stolen, forged, and cashed. Dracut detectives began investigating immediately. The suspects who obtained the check falsified the name of the payee, changed the amount, and cashed the check at a local ATM. Detectives obtained a search warrant to access surveillance footage from the ATM where the check was cashed. Investigators are hoping the public can help identify the two men shown in surveillance footage. The investigation remains active and ongoing. Police said additional details of the theft are not being released. Anyone with information on the case or anyone who believes they recognize the suspects in surveillance footage is asked to call the Dracut Police Department at 978-957-2123. Callers can remain anonymous.
