Here are the top three stories today in Grand Rapids: Ice sculptures return to Grand Rapids downtown's World of Winter's Valent-Ice exhibition. More than 50 sculptures are on display and professionally carved while audiences watch. The outdoor art festival runs until Mar. 6 with the sculptures on display until they melt away. (MLive.com)Grand Rapids Public Schools is reportedly struggling to spend federal funding before the deadline arrives. The funds are part of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund as part of the American Rescue Plan package. The money was intended to upgrade technology, renovate school campuses, and update infrastructure. However, supply chain issues are making it difficult for the district to spend the funds before the June 2024 deadline. (MLive.com)According to the National Chicken Council, the United States was projected to eat 14.2 billion chicken wings during the big game. However, supply chain issues made it difficult for Grand Rapids bars to secure chicken wings and other popular appetizers for Super Bowl parties. Local restaurant owners have reported supply chain issues over the past few months, including the owners of Project BarFly, which operates many area bars such as downtown's Hopcat and the Grand Rapids Brewing Company.
