Description
Need good family to adopt: We just surrendered 2 lab mix litter mates to the Thurston County pet shelter, and it really breaks our hearts to think of them being possibly separated. They are amazing, beautiful, very smart and well trained dogs that came from country life, but were mostly inside dogs. Sadly, we tried to make it work for 2 months to help out friends who moved overseas, but we are not cut out to be dog owners. They are about 2-1/2 yrs old, male (white) and female (black), super sweet and well behaved, graduated puppy training, so are house trained, and just adored people. They are the happiest dogs I’ve ever seen, and their whole body moves with how hard their tails wag when someone comes home. They love being petted, scratched behind the ears, or having their belly or back rubbed. They are quiet, but will bark when they sense something happened outside nearby, or when they want to go outside. To go potty outside the male will notify you by somewhat growling and acting agitated, and he does it for the female too, never have had accidents inside. They like to just lie down on the floor and hang out next to you while you are sitting, watching tv or whatever. They know not to get on furniture. And they are OK on walks. The male is a little territorial if another dog comes nearby, but not violent. The male also sheds a lot. They are very big and strong (85 & 95 lbs), so a small neighborhood of other walking dogs was not always easy. Although mostly good on walks, they will run toward other dogs out of curiosity (regardless of what you or the leash try). We rarely walked them, or limited walks to certain times because we did not know how to handle them otherwise and did not want to chance it. I don’t have time and my kids are not strong enough to control them alone if they should one day meet an aggressive dog. They were used to roaming free farm life, good with chickens, etc. We provided all their stuff to the pet shelter, including 2 large kennels and a pet spy training shock collar. Their names are Luke and Miko. If you have room in your home and heart for them, please call the shelter in Olympia to make a same day appointment to see them. I may even pay the adoption fees if someone could take both dogs to keep together. https://jointanimalservices.org/available-pets/.
