700 Absentee Ballots Left To Be Counted In Cobb, Officials Say

COBB COUNTY, GA — Cobb County election officials said workers will process approximately 700 remaining absentee ballots Thursday, in addition to processing 882 provisional ballots the next day.. Friday workers will also work on ballots with missing or mismatched signatures cured by affidavit, county officials said. While the current polling numbers are unofficial, the election results appear to indicate that the county has become a largely Democratic county. As of 12:30 p.m. Thursday, former vice president and Democratic challenger Joe Biden leads Donald Trump, the Republican incumbent, in the presidential election 220,620 to 164,666. The polls show that 56.33 percent of voters cast their ballots for Biden in Cobb County, compared to Trump's 42.04 percent. In the U.S. Senate race, Jon Ossoff, the Democratic challenger, leads David A. Perdue, the Republican incumbent, 209,689 to 168,849. Democrat and current Precinct 2 Cobb police commander Craig Owens defeated Neil Warren, the Republican incumbent, in the Cobb County sheriff's race. Democrat Jerica Richardson leads Republican Fitz Johnson in the District 2 race for the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. Right now the Board of Elections and Registration is set to certify the election results on Nov. 13.
