Family Foresters, a Second Saturday series of tree planting events for families Join the Friends of Normandy Park Foundation, the City of Normandy Park, and families and community members around the region for tree planting and invasive species removal events at Marine View Park in Normandy Park, WA! Update: January planting event postponed. New date added! We’re hosting six, family-friendly events starting in September 2021 on the Second Saturdays thru March (9/11, 10/09, 11/13, 12/11, 2/12 & 3/12). Hurry, space is limited, so reserve your space now! Foreign language interpretors are available. Tools, supplies, trees/shrubs, education and snacks will be provided for these fun tree planting events! Plant trees, remove invasive species, and learn about the environment! Learn: • How to help the environment • Best practices for planting trees and shrubs • How you can impact air quality and climate change • Have Fun! We have a Scavenger hunt with environmentally friendly prizes! Important Note: September 11 & October 9 dates will focus on invasive species removal, saving established trees covered in ivy and preparing the ground for planting. Tree planting will happen at November-February monthly events when the ground has more moisture to support new plants and trees. Have questions? Thank you to the Port of Seattle and Restoration Design Analytics LLC for your support! These family friendly events will follow current COVID-19 requirements for masking and social distancing. Please plan to bring a mask for each person attending. Friends of Normandy Park (FONP) is an association of community members and local businesses that wish to enhance the community in and around Normandy Park. Through fundraising, events and programs, the Friends of Normandy Park will serve as a facilitator to build community pride and improve our business climate, enhance our beautiful environment, and attract people to our city.
