Join in a community conversation of The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America by Richard Rothstein. The book reveals “how government policies led to the creation of officially segregated public housing and demolishing of previously integrated neighborhoods”, mandating segregation and undermining the ability of black families to own homes and build wealth. This event is an opportunity to highlight the main themes of the book, reflect on lingering effects of interpersonal and structural racism in our culture and society through sharing stories of this history, and explore actions we can take today to address this reality. Local civil rights attorney Al Gerhardstein will add local context, sharing how these policies and practices played out in Cincinnati and its lasting impact in our city. Hosted by Erica Riddick. Founded in 2004, the Kennedy Heights Arts Center is a non-profit community arts center providing cultural events, art exhibitions, and arts education programs for youth and adults.
