Southbound I-580 Closures Planned

EAST BAY — Caltrans plans to close a portion of southbound Interstate Highway 580 in Albany and Richmond overnight on Sunday, May 10 into the morning of Monday, May 11 for work to smooth the roadway. The stretch of I-580 between Central Avenue in Richmond and Buchanan Street in Albany will close at 9:30 p.m. May 10 and reopen at 4 a.m. May 11. It will close again at 9:30 p.m. May 11 and reopen at 4 a.m. May 12. Southbound travelers during the closure should take the Central Avenue exit, turn right at the traffic light onto Central Avenue eastbound and take the westbound onramp to Interstate Highway 80. Motorists should watch for detour signs and expect delays.
