The Journey for Freedom Please join us for the Black History Month urban hike/walk presented by Delaware Valley Chapter's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. The trip is over 8 miles in the Center City with designated rest stops and bail-out points. Do not miss the opportunity to see the Traveling Exhibition: "The Journey to Freedom" (Sculpture of Harriet Tubman.) Meet 10:00 AM by the Lloyd Hall on Kelley Drive, the Northern side of Philadelphia Museum of Art. Over two-hour street parking is available on Sedgley Drive and nearby streets. The location is accessible by Septa bus routes 38, 32, and 49, etc., and approximately 1.2 miles from the 30th street station on foot. Bring a mask, hand sanitizer, water, snack, and lunch. Dress in layers for the season and wear comfortable shoes to walk miles on the pavements. Participants must wear masks at the trailhead, any places indoors, and when social distancing is not possible. Please anticipate eating lunch outdoor. No dogs, please. Please read the whole page including Note and the Covid information below. Note: -This trip will not include the Underground Railroad Museum (AKA Belmont Mansion). -All viewings will be from outside since most of the structures are closed due to Covid-19 or renovations. - In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania. COVID 19 Information: As of December 1, 2021 AMC requires volunteers be vaccinated or receive a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the start of an event. AMC relies on the honor system for compliance. Participants may be required to wear masks, provide proof of vaccination, or in the alternative a current (within 72 hours) negative PCR test as a condition of attending this event. For your personal safety, you should expect to be in the presence of vaccinated and unvaccinated people in all AMC settings and should make choices about participating accordingly.
