Description
I started selling kids clothes a few years ago and stopped in December of 2018. I packed up all the clothing I had left thinking I could just donate it to children in need. Little did I know that non profits prefer money more than items. I tried donating to homeless shelters, connecting with foster youth and any famly in need. I. even contacted the county supervisor’s office to try to connect with social workers who help needy families in Health and Human Service. NO ONE, and I mean no one at any non profit wanted to even see the items. They just assumed that the items were useless since I wanted to give them away. People suggested thrift stores, but my logic was that people with children in need may not have the money to buy clothes at the prices second hand stores sell clothing for which can be almost as much as new clothing. After paying over a year to store the items without a taker, i had decided to just donate the items to Thrift Town and hope for the best. Then Covid-19 shut down the state and I could not even donate the items. Then Thrift Town went out of business. So now I have boxes of untainted clothing I would like to sell to those who can afford clothing at less than second hand prices or free to those who cannot. One thing about children they have that pesky habit of growing and outgrowing clothing and not everyone can keep up with that habit right now. The items are new with tags and also some gently used. All items have been packed since December of 2018. All items have been stored climate controlled indoors in a storage facility a year before the pandemic. I’m a mom and I feel that it is important that the items are guaranteed Covid free. I personal would want to know the origins of clothing I was going to bring into my home at this time. I know clothing can be washed, and should in these times before being placed on a child, but I just prefer knowing formpeace of mind. I want to bring 2-3 boxes of one to three sizes with me to pop up shops where people can buy if they can afford to or pick some items if they cannot. It has cost me to store these items, and even though my heart was in the right place to donate, good intentions did not pay the bill. If I can get some money from this it would be nice, but if not that is fine too. The sizes range from toddler to pre teen. POP UPs will likely take place at parks in and around Richmond because that is the city the items are stored in. Masks properly worm will be required and gloves will be provided for a safe shopping experience for all. I do not know exactly how this is going to work since I an not connected to any parenting groups on social media. I am kind of looking to see who want to meet up and share word of mouth to shop and go from there. Clothes are all California seasons and weather except snow :) You name I have it on hand. Contact me if interested. Feel free to make arrangements to get pictures and prices of any specIfic you might be interested in, and you can ger those items before the pop up shop. I have nothing decided if items at a previous pop up will be offered again, but if ever they are they will be kept separate and full transparency given. I just ha e to see how well everyone is at following the saftey precautions. Email [email protected]
