The screening is part of the college's celebration of Black History Month. Through the story of one man irrevocably bound to the history of a country, OBAMA: IN PURSUIT OF A MORE PERFECT UNION reflects on the country's past and present national identity. The free screenings will take place on the Housatonic Museum of Art's website, www.HousatonicMuseum.org. Part I will air on Friday, February 18, Part II on Friday, February 25, and Part III on Friday, March 4. All screenings will take place at 7:00PM. The documentary, produced by Kunhardt Films, chronicles the personal and political journey of President Barack Obama, as the country grapples with its racial history. Weaving together conversations with colleagues, friends, and critics, and interspersed with his own speeches and news interviews, the series begins with Obama's childhood and takes us through his perspective as the son of a white mother from Kansas and an African father, his spiritual formation by a generation of Black leaders, and his hopes for a more inclusive America. "At a time when our nation is undergoing a cultural reckoning on racial injustice, films such as this important documentary provide insights into the conversation of race and unity," said Robbin Zella, Director of the Housatonic Museum of Art.
