If your local school district kept within their tax cap budget limits, local homeowners were receiving a bonus check in the mail .Governor Hochul is proposing reinstating these checks for the 2022 budget. According to the Albany Times -Herald record, the program cost New York state 1.2 billion dollars each year.increasing  a six billion dollar 2020 NY budget deficit. As per the NY Dept of Taxation website dated September 01, 2021; "The property tax relief credit has expired. Eligible homeowners received property tax relief checks in 2017, 2018, and 2019. However, by law, the program expired after 2019." This is  not related to your star rebate check for  newer homeowners
