BROOKFIELD, CT — Crews overnight tackled a motor oil spill that shut down an area of the block of Vale Road.
A tractor trailer spilled about 20 gallons of motor oil, mixed with water, from its engine due to a damaged oil pan.
There was no danger to public health, according to Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company officials.
Crews, who first arrived on the scene of the spill shortly before 1 p.m. Friday, used absorbent pads and booms to contain it.
The Fire Marshal's Office and state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection coordinated the clean-up efforts, which included a crew hired by the trucking company.
