SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Pavement repairs along a six-mile stretch of State Highway 29 / Sonoma Boulevard in Vallejo are set to be completed by Oct. 10, which is ahead of schedule, Caltrans said Friday. But first, various ramp and lane closures are necessary in order for crews to stripe the new pavement. Work is set to take place during the daytime and nighttime hours; while the paving is underway, motorists should watch for construction signs, reduce speed and drive with caution, Caltrans District 4 Spokesman Pedro Quintana said. Upcoming Ramp Closure The final phase of this project also requires overnight closures of the connector ramp from Interstate Highway 80 to northbound SR-29. Detour signage will be in place during the overnight ramp closures scheduled Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 29-Oct. 1, Quintana said, SR-29/Sonoma Boulevard Closures: Watch For Tow-Away Zones As construction continues, residents and business may temporarily experience increased noise levels. Various lane closures will temporarily be in place for worker and public safety. However, one lane in each direction will remain open at all times, Quintana said. "Motorists should also watch for temporary 'Tow Away' construction zones and signs along various sections of SR-29/Sonoma Blvd.," Quintana said. Driver Benefits The goal of this project was to improve roadway safety and provide motorists a smoother ride, according to Caltrans. "This is general pavement repair work on sections of SR-29 that are worn and need attention," Quintana said. "A future project will address larger paving rehabilitation in tentatively 2023."
